Bhilai: A youth posing as director of Chhattisgarhi films befriended a nursing student and raped her over a period of six months after making a false promise to marry her and give her a role in his films. Later, he extorted Rs 2 lakh from her after threatening to make her ‘personal’ photos viral.
The two met through Facebook
The student told police that she belongs to Bilaspur. For the last three years, she had been staying in Bhilai in connection with her nursing studies. Eight months back, Daneshwar Nishad, resident of Patan, sent her a friend request on Facebook and they started chatting on the social media platform.
Daneshwar posed as the director of Chhattisgarhi films and told the girl he wanted to give her work in his films. The friendship between them deepened. Meanwhile, the accused came to Bhilai and offered to marry the girl and raped her.
For nearly 6 months, the accused continued to sexually exploit her. The accused also clicked the victim’s nude photos and started blackmailing her. Finally, the girl lodged a complaint against the accused at Vaishali Nagar police outpost.
Withdrew money from mother’s account
After the accused demanded Rs 2 lakh in exchange for the girl’s nude photos, she withdrew Rs 1.90 lakh from her mother’s bank account without informing her and gave it to him. But the accused continued to demand more money.
Mother failed to convince the accused
The nursing student told that it was not possible for her to arrange more money. She told her mother about the whole incident. The mother met the accused and pleaded with him not to make her daughter’s photos viral, but the accused was unmoved and continued to demand more money.
Supela police station in-charge Dharmanand Shukla said a case has been registered on the girl’s complaint. Search for the accused is on, he said.
