Youth Congress members, party workers hold demo outside Rahul Gandhi’s house urging him not to resign but he remains firm

New Delhi: Members of Youth Congress and workers of the party organised a demonstration outside Rahul Gandhi’s house urging him to hold the party’s top post. Holding party flags and posters saying ‘Nation needs you Rahul Gandhi’, the party members sat under the sun to request their leader. They are also scheduled to meet Rahul over the same matter.

Sources had said earlier this week that as many as 4,000 to 5,000 workers will appeal to Rahul, who had, on May 25, offered to resign from the post of party president following Congress’s dismal performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Lok Sabha MPs of the Congress on Wednesday also requested Rahul Gandhi to continue as the party president, even as he remained fixed on stepping down from his post, sources said.

According to the sources, Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari said that the party takes the collective blame for the Congress’s dismal performance in the recently held Lok Sabha polls adding that the party chief was not the one to be held responsible.
