Bengaluru: Ahead of presenting the Karnataka budget for 2019-20, chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has released an audio clip allegedly of BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa trying to poach his MLAs.
Kumaraswamy is set to present the state budget on Friday at 12:32 pm, which is considered an auspicious time.
Kumaraswamy released an audio clip of a conversation allegedly between Karnataka BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa and JD-S MLA Naganagowda Kandkur’s son Sharana where Yeddyurappa made an offer of Rs 25 lakh and a ministerial post for his father.
The phone call mentions the name of Maharashtra chief minister and other heads of institutions, Kumaraswamy said.
He further said that the BJP does not try to contact the MLAs directly but gets in touch with a close of aide of, or someone who can directly influence, the MLA.
He added that he will write to the speaker over the issue.
BS Yeddyurappa replied to the charges against him saying that the audio clip is “fake” and he has not met anyone.
Yeddyurappa said he went to Devadurga, where Naganagowda Kandkur’s son Sharana claimed to have met him and recorded the conversation, to visit a temple and flew back to the city.
Kumaraswamy had “concocted” the story to hide his failures and inability to keep the JD-S and Congress flock together, he said.
“Chief Minister Kumaraswamy is like a film producer – expert in voice-recording. There is no truth in my son staying with the Congress MLAs in Mumbai. If the CM proves [his claims], I will retire from politics,” Yeddyurappa said.
He counter-charged saying that the Karnataka Congress-JD-S government has lost the trust of the people. “Loan waiver has not helped farmers, irrigation projects are competed neglected.”
He also said that the BJP will not disrupt the assembly session and allow to pass the budget.
In his presser, Kumaraswamy also attacked PM Modi saying that he is encouraging his friends to demolish India’s democracy through black money and, referring to the audio clip before releasing it, said he has proof to back his charge.
He requested the opposition parties to rise and “expose the truth of the prime minister in Parliament”.
Commenting on PM Modi’s Thursday’s speech in Lok Sabha, Kumaraswamy said that he mislead the Parliament with wrong information.
“I demand the prime minister to show his real face,” Kumaraswamy said.
Meanwhile, a police complaint was filed on Friday against Yeddyurappa, BJP MLA from Malleswaram assembly constituency Ashwath Narayana and others for allegedly kidnapping Congress MLAs who were missing from the state legislative assembly session.
Advocate RLN Murthy who filed the complaint said, “BJP has committed an offence of kidnapping and wrongful confinement of some members of legislative assembly, not allowing them to participate in budget session 2019.”
