Hazaribagh (Jharkhand): Deepmala, an executive magistrate (deputy collector) posted here has accused the deputy commissioner (DC) of the district of harassment.
Deepmala’s handwritten letter, running into nine pages, was circulated on the WhatsApp group of the state association of deputy collectors on Tuesday. In the letter, she accuses deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla of mental torture which could drive her to suicide or move around with begging bowl after quitting her job. She said that the DC insults her in public.
“I am a single mother. I stay with my son in a flat. My son is scared staying alone in the night. But I am usually asked to work in night shifts. During festivals, we are made to sit with a havaldar and a few constables at pandals all through the night. What if I am raped or murdered there,” she said.
Jharkhand Administrative Services Association president Ram Kumar Sinha said he had asked their Hazaribagh unit to hold a meeting in the evening. “I also spoke to Deepmala. We are waiting for a report from our Hazaribagh unit. Appropriate action will be taken accordingly,” he said.
Additional chief secretary K.K. Khandelwal, who is looking after the personnel department said that he does not know a probe will be ordered if a formal complaint is received.
