Walking blindfolded to understand plight of the visually impaired

Chandigarh: To make people realise what kinds of problems the visually impaired face, the Dialogue Highway Trust organised a ‘Blind Walk’ here on Thursday. Along with around 50 blind persons, about 250 students and prominent persons walked for around 500 metres with their eyes covered with a thick black cloth. The Walk was organised at the Sector 17 Plaza.

The organisers said that besides acquainting the people with the problems the blind persons faced, the Walk was also aimed at letting them know how to help the visually impaired. “There is no better way to understand the plight of someone than going through what he or she goes through,” the secretary of the club said.

Minister Navjot Singh Siddhu, Chandigarh Mayor Devesh Maudgil and IGP Sanjay Beniwal were among those who joined the Walk.
