Mumbai: Karan Johar has announced his multi-starrer periodic film Takht. The filmmaker has got an ensemble star cast for the film — Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhavi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal and Anil Kapoor. While the hunt for rest of the cast member of this story based on Shah Jahan and Mumtaz is yet to be finalised, we got to know that Varun Dhawan was offered the film.
“Karan has been planning this film for a long time now. He has finished scripting earlier this year. He immediately started the casting process too and after getting a nod from Kareena, he wanted to cast Ranbir Kapoor as her brother in the film. But Ranbir was not keen to play a negative role so he chose not to do it. Later, Varun who is Karan’s protege, too was considered for a role. But Varun has been busy with his respective films and could not do it. Finally Ranveer was finalised for the role,” says a source.
