‘Uncle please spare us’: Despite children’s screaming, villagers continued pelting stones on school bus in Indore

Indore: Irate villagers pelted stones on a bus of Sony International School after a goat’s kid was crushed under its wheels on Saturday. The bus was carrying children of nursery to Class-8 and they were scared and started screaming.

The conductor shut the windows and asked the children to lie down. The driver had applied the brakes suddenly to save the goat’s kid. But the brakes of the bus failed and the villagers thought the driver was deliberately not stopping the bus.

A group of angry villagers had a heated exchange with the driver and pelted stones even after the bus driver managed to stop the bus.

Villagers fled after police arrived

Indore SP (West) Suraj Verma said the incident took place at Qazi Palasia village. The driver and conductor pleaded the villagers to spare the children but they did not listen to them. A teacher informed the school management and Subsequently Dial-100 was contacted. Villagers fled after the police arrived.

Nine students injured

Children said villagers threw stones at the bus. As the bus windows broke, the children started crying. Nine students sustained injuries after they were hit by broken glass and stones and were admitted to the Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital here, Verma said.

On the basis of footage obtained from the CCTV camera in the bus, as many as 13 villagers were identified and they have been booked for rioting and under other sections of the IPC.
