Trucks collide, passenger bus rams into them, leaving 6 dead, 24 hurt

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Two persons were charred to death and four others were killed, while 24 were seriously injured, in a collision between a truck and trailer-truck on Ujjain-Ratlam Road near Badawada village on Monday at around 10.30 am, followed by a passenger bus ramming into them shortly thereafter.

Charred beyond recognition

Fire broke out as soon as the trucks collided. The driver and cleaner of the truck were burnt to death. Their bodies were burnt beyond recognition. The driver and co-driver of the trailer truck were rescued in a critical condition and were rushed to hospital.

The other four who were killed included the driver of the bus and three passengers. The driver has been identified as Jawaharlal. The other deceased are Parul Sakhlecha, 22 of Mandsaur, Keshav Rao and Himmat Singh.

Jaora police said 24 bus passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital while fire tenders were called on the spot to douse the fire and rescue operations were on. SHO Jaora police Rajendra Pawar said the death toll may rise.
