Three-year-old boy falls into stormwater drain in Mumbai, remains untraced

Mumbai: A three-year-old boy fell into a stormwater drain in the Ambedkar Nagar area of Goregaon in Mumbai on Wednesday night, informed Mumbai Police.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera. However, there is still no trace of the child even after hours of launching the search operation.

Due to the flow of water, he is feared to have been washed away.

After the incident, the child’s mother came out to search for him, but she could not find him. As she panicked, footage of the CCTV placed outside the mosque was checked, in which he was seen walking and falling into the stormwater drain.

The incident occurred around 10:20 pm on Wednesday night and soon after the Mumbai Fire Brigade began a search operation in the area.

Along with fire brigade, police, ambulance and ward staff were also pressed into action for the search and rescue of the child. The operations continued through Thursday morning but the child could not be rescued so far.

Authorities have also obtained a CCTV visual of the incident in which the child could be seen walking alone on the road before falling into the open drainage system.
