Danapur (Bihar): The Danapur Division of the East-Central Railway scripted history on Friday by giving control of a train to an all-women crew. The Goods train Down EC Chitpur, that arrived on platform number 2 of Danapur railway station, had only female staff on board.
Guard Swati Swarup and loco pilots Soni Kumari and Vibha Kumari operated the train. They were accompanied by two female RPF constables. As Swati showed green flag, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ranjan Prakash Thakur broke into a big smile. The female loco pilots ran the train up to Fatua station. DRM Thakur said it was for the first time in the history of East-Central Railway that a train was operated by women and women only.
Additional DRM Ravish Kumar, Divisional Operational Manager Pankaj Kumar, Divisional Electrical Engineer (Operations) Sanjeev Kumar, PRO Sanjay Kumar Prasad and other officials were present. Guard Swati Swarup said she felt honoured.
