Telangana: 27 MLAs, 3 MPs joined Chandrasekhar’s TRS in 4 years

Malkajagiri, Telangana: Telangana’s Malkajgiri accounts for the highest number of voters (31 lakh) in a single parliamentary constituency. Famously known as KCR, K Chandrasekhar Rao dissolved the Assembly after playing the first innings as the chief minister of Telangana.

105 TRS candidates announced

KCR has taken the lead by announcing 105 candidates of his party – Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The elections for the Lok Sabha and the Assembly in the state were scheduled to be held simultaneously, but KCR considered it to be a risky affair.

He knew that the 2019 General polls would be dominated by Modi. Telangana assembly has 119 seats, and Telangana now Assembly polls are likely to be held in December. Last time people had elected 63 MLAs of TRS. But in a short span of time, their number increased to 90. Seven out of 21 Congress MLAs, 12 out of 15 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislators, all four MLAs of YSR Congress joined KCR.

Congress biggest Opposition party with 14 MLAs

Parties of Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy have no MLAs now. Congress is the biggest party with 14 MLAs, while BJP has five.

As per Lok Sabha arithmetic, in the year 2014, TRS won 11 out of 17 seats. Congress won 2 seats, while TDP, BJP, YSR Congress and MIM got one seat each. One MP each of Congress, YSR Congress and TDP joined KCR. Now the score of TRS is 14.

TDP’s only MP joined TRS

The business district of Malkajgiri, adjacent to Hyderabad, which constitutes more than half the people of Andhra Pradesh origin, was the only seat of TDP. But TDP MP C Malla Reddy joined TRS in 2016 at a time when Chandrababu Naidu had handed him over the responsibility of the party’s annual foundation day function.
