[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of harassing her on the sets of Horn Ok Pleasss, and then later also named director Vivek Agnihotri for asking her to strip and dance, she let open the floodgates of #MeToo in Bollywood.
Supporting her claim, a journalist narrated the entire incident from her perspective as she was present on the sets on the fateful day in a series of tweets.
Reading the thread many actors like Twinkle Khanna, Richa Chadda, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor, from the fraternity supported Tanushree on Twitter.
But the former Miss India reacted pretty cynically about Priyanka’s statement calling her a survivor. Tanushree said in a statement, “Well, it’s amazing. She ( Priyanka) has finally decided to join the bandwagon. It’s probably a smart thing to do at this point of time. But I just want people to know that I am not going to be reduced to a survivor. I have a name, I have a story and I have this truth that I am trying to get out because it’s not for me but for people who will come forward in the generations to come.”
In an interview to Zoom TV, Tanushree thanked Twinkle Khanna, but questioned her husband Akshay working with Nana. She said, “Thank you ma’am for supporting me but your husband is about to or is even shooting the film with Nana Patekar. What about that?
“Tanushree is upset about two things. Farah’s Instagram post has appalled her. Being a woman herself, Farah has made her stand very clear by going ahead with Nana for the Housefull shoot,” read a statement released by Tanushree, according to India Today.
“In the new future we’ll have cases coming forward. So let’s not generalise this thing. There are people who are genuinely supporting me and those are the people who I would like to focus on. But ya, thanks to each and every person who tweeted. It’s great!”, added Tanushree in interaction with Zoom.
Have not received legal notice from Nana: Tanushree
“Given the recent developments, I am putting together a team of lawyers and advocates to defend my interests. Also contrary to claims made by Nana’s lawyer I have not received any legal notice. So bluffmaster gogo needs to step up his game a bit here,” Tanushree Dutta told ANI.
Nana Patekar laughed when he was questioned about the serious allegations and in turn asked, “What does she mean by sexual harassment? There were 50-100 people on set with me.” He told a news channel, “What can I do about it? You tell me,” and contemplated taking legal action.
Tanushree gains more support from Bollywood:
Chitrangda Singh, who had walked out of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz mid-way as she reportedly felt uncomfortable with how the director Kushan Nandy asked for retakes during a love-making scene, also supported Tanushree and said: “I believe her and I support her.”
On the other hand A-listers like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan did not comment anything substantial on the allegations made by Tanushree.
Amitabh Bachchan said, “Neither my name is Tanushree nor Nana Patekar. So, how can I answer your question?”
Aamir said, “Without knowing the veracity of something, it’s not right for me to comment on it. But whenever something like this does happen, it’s a sad thing. Whether this has happened, that is for people to investigate it.”
Salman Khan, who was asked about the issue at an event on Thursday, said that he was not aware of it. “I am not aware of this. Let me know and understand what is happening,” he said.
