Tamil Nadu’s Pollachi sex scandal: CB-CID begins probe

Coimbatore: A racket involving a four-member gang and the dozens of women they sexually harassed and blackmailed was uncovered in Tamil Nadu’s Pollachi last month.

More than 50 women were lured and sexually harassed by a gang of 4 and the acts were videographed.

CB-CID (Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department) has now begun an inquiry into the sex racket in Tamil Nadu. Investigating team has one SP, one DSP, and 5 Inspectors. Pollachi East police have arrested four persons in this case.

Women were befriended on Facebook and then enticed by the gang and sexually exploited.

The men used to film these incidents and then threatened the victims to not report the incident otherwise they would post the video online.

However, a 19-year-old girl mustered courage and narrated her story. Subsequently, the members of the gang were arrested.

A police officer probing the case said “They harassed women in moving vehicles, hotels and even a farmhouse near Anamalai forest. The victims are from Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem and many parts of Tamil Nadu.”
