Sushant Singh Rajput to replace SRK in astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic?

Sushant Singh Rajput, who had opted out of Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s Chanda Mama Door Ke, may soon get a chance to play astronaut Rakesh Sharma in Saare Jahan Se Achcha. Sushant had prepared a lot for his role in Chanda Mama Door Ke but had to opt out of it as the space film couldn’t kick off due to various reasons.

“The makers of the film and Sushant share a good rapport. He has already visited NASA while he was training for his role in Chanda Mama Door Ke. He has learned how to fly a plane as well as operate a telescope. He took training on how to land on the Moon too. So, he is a perfect choice to play astronaut Rakesh Sharma in the biopic. After Vicky Kaushal, he is the next actor in race to play the lead after Shah Rukh Khan’s exit,” a source said.

The film is made by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. It will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and before Shah Rukh, Aamir Khan was to do this film. Later, Aamir left the film and recommended SRK’s name. However, for the past few weeks there are rumours that Shah Rukh too might not do the film but there is no officially confirmation on it.
