Spot the PM: After I-Day speech, Modi breaks away from security cover to meet schoolchildren

New Delhi: After his 92-minute-long speech at the Red Fort on on the 72nd Independence Day of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke away from his security cover to meet excited schoolchildren.

Modi, sporting a traditional orange and red safa, got down from his car while leaving the monument and met the children dressed in the colours of the national flag.

The crowd of children swelled as they hankered to meet and shake hands with the PM, prompting Modi’s security team to step in.

Thousands of schoolchildren wearing saffron, white and green-coloured track suits and matching caps, made a ‘Bharat’ formation and waited patiently as Modi delivered his speech, which lasted for more than an hour.

The Prime Minister had greeted the children during the Independence Day celebrations last year as well and similarly swamped by the over-enthusiastic crowd.
