SC allows Ram Rahim’s driver to retestify in twin murder cases

New Delhi: In another jolt to Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) chief Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim, who is in jail after being convicted of rape, the Supreme Court, on Friday, dismissed his appeal against the Punjab and Haryana High Court order allowing his former driver Khatta Singh to depose afresh before the special CBI court in two murder cases.

The Supreme Court dismissed Rahim’s appeal against an order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The apex court has ordered that Khatta Singh’s statement will be recorded afresh in the murder cases of Ranjit Singh, a member of the Dera’s managing committee and journalist Ramchandra Chattrapati. Khatta Singh had filed a plea in the CBI court, demanding that his statement should be re-recorded. The plea was dismissed. Khatta Singh challenged the CBI court’s decision in the High Court, which allowed his appeal.

Khatta Singh says that he was under the pressure of Ram Rahim and could not speak out the truth in the court. The High Court had ordered that Khatta Singh will testify again in both cases again.
