Sania Mirza ‘excited like a kid in a candy shop’ on hitting gym first time post baby

Uploading a photo on Twitter, Sania said she was 'like a kid in a candy shop' after going to the gym for the first time since giving birth to her son.

On Thursday, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza celebrated her 32nd birthday with her newborn son Izhaan Mirza-Malik and family.

But, other than spending time with family, Sania had plans set aside to celebrate her birthday. She hitting the gym.

Uploading a photo on Twitter, Sania Mirza said she was “like a kid in a candy shop” after going to the gym for the first time since giving birth to her son. She wrote, “Went to the gym after weeks/months yesterday first times since I had my baby… I was excited like a kid in a candy shop, it’s going to be one lonnggg and fun road back mentally and physically !!gotta start somewhere so why not on my birthday.”

Husband and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik uploaded lovely photographs on Twitter and Instagram to wish wife Sania on her birthday.

The former doubles World No 1 has been on the sidelines since October 2017, but she had said that she was aiming to be back on court for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sania has won six Grand Slam doubles titles, including the 2015 Wimbledon ladies’ doubles with Martina Hingis.

Sania also said earlier that she would like to set an example for her child that pregnancy, motherhood and parenthood should not be something that holds one back from your dreams.

Other tennis stars like Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters also resumed playing tennis after becoming a parent. Serena Williams won the 2017 Australian Open when she was a few weeks pregnant with her daughter Alexis Olympia and returned to the WTA Tour in March 2018.
