‘Salute’ is on track, will make announcement soon: Siddharth Roy Kapur

Mumbai: Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur laid rest to rumours about Salute being postponed or shelved. Talking to Dainik Bhaskar, Siddharth confirmed, “Salute is well on track. We will start it soon and will be making an announcement soon.”

Salute is the biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma who was the first Indian to enter space. Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly set to play the lead role of Rakesh Sharma in the film. When asked the reason behind choosing SRK, Siddharth said, “We will be making an official announcement and only then can I talk.”

Siddharth also said that producing a biopic has a different set of challenges. “Producing a film is never easy. There are different considerations while making a biopic. You need to stay true to the person’s life story. You can’t take creative liberties and make something else completely. Biopic gives you a chance of telling a true story of heroism. There are so many unsung heroes we haven’t made movies on. They deserve a biopic. There are so many heroes in India other than sports, politics and cinema that we should look at for inspiration.”
