Runaway bride: Woman lures family on jeevansathi.com; decamps with gold, cash 15 days after wedding

Amritsar: Police in Chandigarh have arrested a runaway bride after she decamped with gold and valuables. The victim had come in contact with the woman through matrimonial website Jeevansathi.com. The woman is a Muslim but she pretended to be a Rajput and an MBBS doctor in order to get married.

Woman has been disinherited by her father

Probe by cops of C Division police station has revealed the woman has duped many other youths in the past. The accused woman Anisha has already been disinherited by her father Ahmad Mushtaq, who lives in Kashmir.

Created son’s profile on matrimonial site

Complainant Rajesh Kumar Bhatia said he had created the profile of his son, who lives in Dubai, on Jeevansathi.com. The accused, Anisha, got in touch with the victim’s family through the marriage portal. She pretended to be a Rajput.

Bhatia said Anisha gave her consent for marriage and the wedding took place in Dayanand Dham Arya Samaj. After 15 days, the son returned to Dubai. Two days later, Anisha also left for Chandigarh and never returned. Accused Anisha took mangalsutra, gold and silver ornaments, costly dresses and gifts and cash given for ‘shagun’ (a ritual during marriage).
