Mumbai: Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar are all set to collaborate for a cop drama Sooryavanshi. The filmmaker has already started preparing for the film and Akshay is set to join the team in April. According to latest buzz, Rohit is planning to avert box office clash with Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 and Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra.
A source says, “Rohit is known to complete his film in limited days like Akshay Kumar. So, they are aiming to finish the film soon and release it in December this year. He had planned to release it around Christmas this year along with Dabangg 3 and Brahmastra, but Rohit might push it back by a week or so. However, he is yet to make an official announcement on it.”
This is not the first time that Rohit has changed the release date of his films to avoid box office clash. Last year, he shifted release date of his Simmba after having a discussion with Shah Rukh Khan for Zero. Both the films released with a gap of one week. While Simmba went on to become a huge hit, Zero did average business.
Prior to this, Rohit had also change release date of his film Golmaal 4 so that it should not clash with Rajnikanth’s 2.0 on Diwali 2017. However, later, 2.0 was delayed by a year but Rohit chose to release the film on Diwali.
