Ready to go to Washington, invited Trump to visit Moscow, Putin says

Johannesburg: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that he had invited US President Donald Trump to Moscow, and that both he and Trump were ready for further summits, but that conditions needed to be right for a meeting to take place.

Putin said telephone calls between Moscow and Washington were insufficient and that both sides needed to meet to talk about issues like the Iran nuclear deal, conflicts in the Middle East, and arms control treaties. Putin and Trump had met in Helsinki earlier this month at a summit, but Trump faced a storm of criticism back home for his handling of the meeting, reports said.

Regarding our meetings, I understand very well what President Trump said. He has a desire to have further meetings, to hold further meetings. I am ready for that. We are ready to invite US President to Moscow. By all means. By the way, he has such an invitation, I told him about that. I am ready to go to Washington. Vladimir Putin

700 separated kids in custody

The US government said on Friday that families it broke up at the border with Mexico have not been reunited as a court-ordered deadline to return all children to their parents elapsed on Thursday.

The government said, ‘At least 378 children had already been released under other appropriate circumstances, but 700 kids remain in custody.’
