No phone calls, WhatsApp, SMS messages to voters after 10 pm

Jaipur: With the election model code of conduct coming into force in Rajasthan for the forthcoming assembly elections, the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has issued detailed directives for the candidates and political parties.

A blanket ban has been imposed on canvassing between 10 pm and 6 am. The candidates or their representatives will not be allowed to contact voters personally or through phone calls in this duration. Not only that, they will also not be allowed to send WhatsApp, SMS or MMS messages to them. They cannot visit their homes nor contact them through any means in the night.

Poll-related events out-of-bounds for govt servants

The CEO has also directed that no government officer or employee can attend any election-related public meeting. Action will be taken against government staffers found at public meetings, unless he or she has been deployed there as part of his or her duty. Any person can click a photograph or record a video of such government servants and upload it through C-Vigil App.

Even those projects for which tenders have been finalised and work orders issued will be kept pending till the end of the election process.

Action within 100 minutes

A monitoring cell will function at the collectorates of all districts and action on complaints will be taken within 100 minutes of receiving them. The complainants will not be required to submit any written complaints. Merely furnishing proof of a violation would be enough.
