Mumbai: Popular television sitcom, FIR that entertained viewers for a good 9 years (2006-2015) is all set to return back to the small screen. Apparently, the makers are planning to bring the series again with the same star cast – Kavita Kaushik, Shiv Pandit, Kiku Sharda and Gopi Bhalla. The show will be produced under the same banner – Edit 2 Productions.
A source close to the production informs, “The makers had been working on the comeback for the past 6 months. Currently, they are working on the script and other pre-production work. They are keen on retaining the same star cast; however, it’s at a very initial stage. Most of the actors are already a part of other shows and so they are finding it difficult to bring everyone on the same platform. But saying this, they still haven’t lost their hope yet on the actors. They might introduce a few new actors too. If everything works out in their favour; the show will go on floor in the first quarter of 2019.”
When contacted, producer Benaifer Kohli said, “FIR was a cult show — it was so hit among the audience. Yes, there is a plan of bringing it back, but it’s too early to talk about it. A lot of creative input is required for the same and also, we have moved on so much now; so the story-line will be completely different from this generation. Let’s see how it comes out in the future.”
When contacted, Kavita Kaushik said, “Honestly, right now I am not aware about the show coming back but if so, I doubt if the producers will be able to bring the original team back together as it’s scattered with all gone on different paths.”
Apart from Kavita, another actor who played the pivotal role of Chief Inspector Hanuman Prasad Pandey was Shiv Pandit. He says, “When I had signed FIR I did not have much experience in comedy but the show helped me a lot to evolve. I have no clue about its comeback and would retain my character or not. Let’s see (smiles).”
In 2013, the show took a 20-year leap when Kavita Kaushik, who played the lead role Chandramukhi, departed from the show and introduced Chitrashi Rawat as Chandramukhi’s daughter, Jwalamukhi Chautala, who revealed that Chandramukhi married Bajrang Pandey.
The change was reverted on July 8, 2013 and the incidents occurring in the 20 year leap were converted into constable Gopi’s dream and the show then continued along with Chandramukhi Chautala’s return.
