Petrol-diesel price skyrocketed again and so did India’s sarcasm

New Delhi: India woke up to yet another hike in the prices of petrol and diesel on Saturday, which furthered the misery and hardships that the falling rupee and rising petrol-diesel prices have been thrusting on the common citizens of India.

Prices of petrol and diesel touched Rs 80.38 and Rs 72.51 respectively in Delhi while Mumbai saw petrol and diesel reaching the 87 and 77 mark.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has remained non-committal on cutting excise duty to cushion spiralling petrol and diesel prices, saying international oil prices are volatile and have not shown any linear movement. However, opposition demands that the Centre to cut excise duty as it was done by previous governments — which had “cut rates whenever international oil prices shot up.”

While concerns over petrol and diesel have been rising, people took to Twitter to express their rage over the issue — with hilarious tweets criticising the government.
