Chandigarh: The power connections of many government schools in Punjab have been snapped due to non-payment of bills. The issue was raised in Punjab assembly.
Now, the Punjab electricity department has found a solution to this problem. The department has decided that the pending bills would be paid by the panchayats of concerned areas. Many panchayats have agreed to pay pending electricity bills.
Punjab govt does not provide grant
The Punjab government does not provide any special grant for the payment of power bills. The government schools have to pay the power bills from their own funds. Many schools are unable to pay the bills and their power connections have been snapped.
