Over 200 chartered planes scheduled in Udaipur ahead of Isha Ambani’s pre-wedding festivities and elections

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his December is all about grand weddings. After actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s fortnight long wedding celebrations we saw Priyanka Chopra getting married to American singer-actor Nick Jonas in Jodhpur, and now it’s time for the Ambanis to show some glitz and glamour.

Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s daughter Isha is tying the knot with Ajay and Swati Piramal’s son Anand on December 12 in Mumbai. But before the big day, there is a weekend of festivities coming up for the Ambani and Piramal families and Udaipur will see December 8 and 9 packed with celebrations. The city of Udaipur is gearing up to deal with the action and attention over the next few days.

There are over 200 chartered planes scheduled to land and take off from the Udaipur airport over the course of this week. While the wedding is the main reason behind the activity in Udaipur, this is the last lap of campaigning for the Rajasthan assembly elections and the state is seeing politicians coming to its key cities in huge numbers. Rajasthan votes on December 7.

The Udaipur Maharana Pratap Airport over the next 10 days will see 200 chartered flights taking off and landing. On the days earmarked for Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s pre-wedding celebrations, 30 to 50 chartered aircrafts are expected to land and take off from the Udaipur airport, which otherwise does not see a lot of activity.

On a usual day, the Udaipur Maharana Pratap Airport sees about 19 commercial planes taking off and 19 landings.

Apart from the flights, the Ambanis are said to have booked all the five star hotels in the city for their guests. Their pre-wedding parties are to have hundreds of guests flying down from all corners of the world. That is, excluding the teams that are in charge of the ceremonies.

Over a thousand luxury cars have been booked too to pick up and drop their guests from the airport to the venue. Jaguars, Porches, Mercedes, Audis and BMWs are among the fleet that the Ambanis have selected for their guests.

Priyanka and Nick tied the knot in Jodhpur, at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, on December 1 and 2. And on December 4 the couple is hosting a reception party in Delhi.

The Ambanis who were part of Priyanka Chopra’s sangeet and wedding ceremonies, then flew back to Mumbai to attend Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding reception party on December 1.

Isha and Anand had an engagement party in Lake Como in September this year, where about 600 guests from all over the world were invited. After their pre-wedding bashes in Udaipur, the families will return to Mumbai for the wedding.
