Odisha artist makes 2.5-inch tall replica of Lord Jagannath’s chariot

Berhampur (Odisha): Satyanarayan Moharana, an artist in Odisha, has made a miniature replica of the chariot of Lord Jagannath on the occasion of Rath Yatra. Its height is only 2.5 inches. It took him four days to make it. 

This chariot is made of wood and has 16 wheels. There is also a 1.5 inch tall charioteer. In the chariot, a throne of 0.25 inch has also been made for seating Lord Jagannath.

Wood, cloth, colour, water and gum used in making chariot

35-year-old Moharana said, “I used wood, cloth, water, color and glue to make the chariot. Actually, I cherished a desire to make the chariot. Now my dream has been fulfilled. Indeed, my devotion to Lord Jagannath and my will power helped me to complete this work.

Etched faces of well-known personalities on chalk

Satyanarayan has already etched the faces of many well-known personalities on the chalk. Among them are Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, former President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

According to an officer of the local body civic body Sudhir Raut, the people of the whole district are familiar with Moharan’s skill and talent. He has received applause from different parts of the world. I am surprised that he made such small chariots from wood, he said.
