Ambala: From the next month, those cancelling e-tickets will not have to wait for weeks for refund. The amount will be credited back to their accounts within 48 hours, after deducting the prescribed charges. Presently, it takes up to seven to ten days.
More payment options
The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) – the nodal agency for the electronic ticket booking system of the Indian railways – is introducing a new app christened ‘I-Pay’ from August, which will become functional from the second week of the month. It will allow payments through app wallets, credit and debit cards, international cards, auto debit and UPI. IRCTC official Gulshan Kumar said that ‘I-Pay’ will be linked to most of the banks and payment gateways and that will make payments easier and refunds quicker.
The App will have many new features, which will be useful for those booking e-tickets. They will now have more options for making payments. Online ticket booking will now be possible through debit or credit cards of State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank and United Bank of India.
As the app becomes popular, more banks and payment gateways would be linked to it.
