Now, goat milk will be available in Madhya Pradesh’s milk parlours soon

Bhopal: After the announcement of the development of 1000 Gaushalas for the stray cows, the Madhya Pradesh government is now planning to start sale of goat milk marking Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. The milk will be sold at Sanchhi milk parlours through the Dugdha Sangh. From March, the goat milk will be available in the parlours in Indore. Depending upon the demand, it would be made available in other districts of the state.

According to the state government, this year is the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth. He liked goat’s milk, so it would be sold through milk parlours to make it available to the common people. Its price will be more than the cow’s milk.

80 lakh goats in the state

According to officials of Animal Husbandry Department, there are about 80 lakh goats in the state. In Burhanpur and Malwa areas, such farmers have been identified who rear goats. The milk will initially be procured from them. As the demand for milk will increase, it will be procured from farmers of other areas of the state.

Officials claim that the milk of only cows and buffaloes is available in the market. Goat’s milk is rich in nutrients and has medicinal properties. It cures many diseases and so people will prefer it.

Good in cholesterol control

Goat’s milk contains elements such as fatty acids and triglycerides. It is beneficial in control of cholesterol. It contains milk proteins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium as well as vitamins A, B2, C and D. According to the officials, goat milk has high demand due to its medical and Ayurvedic uses.

Useful in the treatment of dengue

Goat milk is used as a medicine for the treatment of dengue. Goats usually eat only medicinal plants and their leaves. So their milk has a unique odour.

Benefits of goat milk and its nutritional values are well known since the ancient times. Goat`s milk is a very healthy choice due the fact that it has healing properties and lowers the incidence of digestive problems and allergies. It is beneficial in digestive disorders, asthma, ulcers, allergies, tuberculosis etc. Officials said that the minister of the animal husbandry department, Lakhan Singh Yadav, has also asked to make goat milk available in all areas as soon as possible.
