New Delhi: Virat Kohli is impressed by the astonishing performance of Prithvi Shaw – the 18-year-old batsman, who won the hearts of millions when he scored his first debut test hundred.
According to Kohli, none of the players in the current Indian squad were even 10% of what Shaw is at this age.
Alongside Shaw, the Indian skipper also praised Rishabh Pant for “grabbing their chances.”
“We were looking at them playing with a lot of freedom, which they did,” Kohli said after India’s three-day, 10-wicket win on Sunday. “Prithvi was outstanding, Rishabh was really fearless.”
Recently, the Indian captain had praised Shaw for his performance and hinted he will play for the team in its next assignment in Australia.
Shaw’s stellar run
- Shaw made history by becoming the youngest Indian to score a test hundred on debut at 18 years and 329 days on the first day of home test series against the Windies at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
- Shaw scored 70 in the first innings of the second Test in Hyderabad, which helped the team succeed towards the goal easily.
- He scored 237 runs in three test innings against the Windies at home, thereby grabbing the Man of the Series award.
