Rohtak: Rampant cheating and use of unfair means were reported from various exam centres in Rohtak, Haryana, as Class-12 board exams of Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) began on Thursday.
There was no control on cheating especially at exam centres in rural areas due to the shortage of police force, apathy of panchayat representatives and negligence of the state education department and panchayat representatives.
Outsiders threw cheating slips at some centres even in the presence of police.
‘We asked for more force’
Jaibhagwan, chief superintendent, Government School, Mahim, said there are three centres in the school. But there are only five cops on duty. ‘We asked for more force from the SP. But the police came only once and then left,’ he said.
However, Mahim deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sajjan Kumar said there is acute shortage of police personnel. ‘We cannot send more force. School staff and panchayats must work to curb cheating. There were large number of outsiders at many centres’, he said.
