Navjot Singh Sidhu’s exit from ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ put on hold

In the past few days, there’s been lot of buzz about Navjot Singh Sidhu being sacked from The Kapil Sharma Show over his insensitive comment on Pulawama terrorist attack. Apparently, the channel did not want to destroy their goodwill and decided to sack him from the show. But, according to sources, Salman Khan has asked Sidhu to resign before the channel takes any call.

“When this entire controversy happened; the channel was still not sure on what decision to make. It was the producer of the show, Salman Khan’s immediate decision to ask Sidhu to step down from the show. Obviously, as a producer, Salman did not want to take a chance especially when so much money has been involved in its production. The show is doing well in terms of TRP and Salman doesn’t want to lose it just for the sake of one person. And so, he decided to take a call immediately,” said a source.

Apparantely, the channel is still in a dilemma as to what decision to make as the host, Kapil Sharma, is also in favour of Sidhu. In one of the media interactions, Kapil mentioned that banning Sidhu from the show is not a solution; one should look for a permanent solution.

“The discussion between the producer and the channel is still on; the final decision on Sidhu’s exit is on hold as of now. At this moment; all Salman has advised the channel is to let the matter cool down before they announce their final verdict. Obviously, Sidhu won’t be shooting for the few coming episodes; however there might be chances of him returning back. All thanks to Kapil Sharma and Salman Khan,” added another spurce.

Earlier, Navjot Singh Sidhu had stated, “Nations cannot be held responsible for the dastardly acts of terrorists. The terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion). There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act.”

Sidhu’s statements have been received with harsh criticism and since then Twitter, along with other social media platforms, have been flooded with posts demanding his removal from The Kapil Sharma Show. Interestingly, in the morning, the top three Twitter trends were #BoycottSidhu, #BoycottKapilSharmaShow and #BoycottSonyTV respectively.
