Narendra Modi arrives in Gujarat to welcome Donald Trump

Ahmadabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Ahmadabad to welcome US President Donald Trump. Trump, wife Melania, daughter Ivanka, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will arrive in Ahmedabad at 11.40 am on a two-day tour.

Trump arrives in Ahmedabad for the first leg of his maiden India trip.

During his visit, Trump will visit Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram, take part in a roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and jointly address over one lakh people at a cricket stadium, before heading for Agra to see the iconic Taj Mahal with his wife Melania.

This is Trump’s first visit to India as President. Trump will be in Ahmedabad for about 230 minutes, do a 22 km roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend the Namaste Trump program at Motera Stadium. Trump is the 7th US President to visit India in the last 61 years. Barack Obama visited India twice. Modi tweeted, “Trump, India is waiting for you. Your visit will strengthen the relationship between the two countries.”

After Ahmedabad, Trump will go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. On February 25, Trump will have a formal reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi will have a formal meeting with the US President in Hyderabad. The two leaders will also issue a joint statement.
