MP: My marriage will be cancelled if I fail, writes a student; another says his life will be ruined

Bhind: The checking of answer-sheets of the Class-10 and 12 Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) examinations is underway.

The teachers in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, who are checking the copies, are coming across strange comments made by the students. Teachers are definitely surprised and also worried.

An Economics student of Class 12 has written – Sir, I have failed once, pass me this time, otherwise my marriage will be cancelled and I’ll be forced to commit suicide.

Another Class-12 student wrote – Sir, if I do not pass, I shall not get a job. Dad will thrash me and may even expel me from the house. So surely give me passing marks, otherwise my life will be ruined.

It is a serious and worrying issue, says teacher

Teacher Satendra Singh Kushwaha said – In the economics answer-sheet a student has written that her marriage will be cancelled and she may even commit suicide if she does not pass in the examination. It is an extremely worrying and serious issue.

Similarly Vishesh Singh, who is checking the chemistry copies, said that a Class 12 student has written about ending his life if he does not pass.

PS Chauhan, Principal, Government Excellence Higher Secondary School, Bhind, said teachers who are evaluating the answer-sheets of board exams are coming across comments from the candidates. Students who do not study write such things. Guidance should be given to such students to study. Assessment will be completed in a fixed time frame, he added.
