MP: Incentive of up to Rs 1.50 lakh on purchase of e-car from next FY

Bhopal: From the next financial year 2019-20, an incentive of up to Rs 1.50 lakh would be provided on the purchase of an electric car by the Centre. Incentive amounts between Rs 7,500 and 22,000 would be given on the purchase of e-scooter and e-bike. For this the buyers would have to apply through the MP government’s nodal agency.

Under e-mobility mission, the second phase of the faster adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicle (FAME scheme) would begin from April 1. In the second phase, one e-charging station would be set up in cities within an area of 9 square km and on the highways at distance of 25 km. The Union Energy Ministry has sought a proposal from the MP government up to March 27 regarding the setting up of e-charging stations.

Prices of e-cars, e-bikes set to fall

At present, the price of an e-car in the country is between Rs 10 and 12 lakh. Besides, e-scooters and e-bikes of different capacities are available at price ranging between Rs 30,000 and 2 lakh. According to experts of MP Urja Vikas Nigam, a sharp fall in the prices of e-cars and e-bikes is expected in the time to come. At present, there are only three charging stations in capital Bhopal for charging of e-cars.
