Morena: After winning the state-level championship for her team, the first thing Sonam Jatav did was that she reached the hospital in Morena where her paralyzed mother is undergoing treatment.
She touched her feet and put the trophy before her. Seeing this, the eyes of other patients, their kin and hospital staff brimmed with tears.
Sonam was the captain of the Narmadapuram Division team and her team won the 27th mini state-level volleyball championship held in Orchha.
Sonam Jatav’s father had passed away when she was only five and her mother has suffered paralytic attack and is bedridden.
Against all odds, Sonam continued her studies and also focused on volleyball. She worked as domestic help in the houses of other people to make both ends meet.
She was selected as captain of the divisional team and bagged the state championship.
Sonam has also won silver medal in the national championship of drop row ball. She goes to school at 10 every morning, but before that she works at some houses.
She takes care of her mother, practices volleyball and studies besides attending to other household chores.
She gives credit to her sports teacher Bakhtawar Khan, her mother, school teachers and friends for motivating and supporting her.
