Train hurtling at 100 kmph passes over woman, infant; both unscathed

Burhanpur: Tabassum, 25, a resident of Allahabad, was travelling to Mumbai on Thursday on the Gorakhpur-LTT Kashi Express. When the train halted at Nepanagar station in Madhya Pradesh, she got off the train and laid down on the other track, holding her infant son close to her chest.

Just then, Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express (which does not have a stoppage at Nepanagar) came hurtling down at a speed of around 100 kmph and passed over Tabassum and her infant child. It was a miracle that neither got as much as a scratch. The incident created a pandemonium at the railway station. After the train passed, people were stunned to see the woman and her son still alive.

Was under stress

Later, in a GRP inquiry, Tabassum told the railway police personnel that her husband, Mohd. Sajid, had given her a divorce because of which he was under stress.
