Minister performs puja of EVM; Election Commission sees red

Raipur: The Election Commission of India has served a notice on Dayaldas Baghel, Minister for cooperatives, tourism and culture in the Chhattisgarh government for performing puja at the polling booth in his ancestral village Kura.

Baghel is a BJP candidate from Navagarh Assembly constituency in the state. He reached the polling booth on Tuesday, just after the polling began. He lit incense sticks and performed a puja of the EVM. He even applied tilak on the EVM. Then he broke a coconut at the entry and performed a parikrama of the building housing the booth. He reverentially bowed his head before the EVM and then cast his vote.

Not only this, the Mantriji also ensured that his reverence for the EVM is recorded for posterity. The video of his puja was uploaded on the social media and went viral in no time.

The ECI took notice of it and on Friday, issued a notice to him. Now, Baghel is claiming that the video is fake.
