#MeToo: Yash Raj Films to let go off director Dibakar Banerjee?

Banerjee was accused of sexual misconduct in 2011 by actress Payal Rohatgi. Rohatgi had alleged that he had asked her to lift her shirt and show him her stomach.

New Delhi: The #MeToo movement has been gaining strong momentum with every passing day. While more and more names and stories are surfacing, production houses and companies too are taking strict action against the accused by terminating their services.

According to sources, another filmmaker who is currently facing the heat is Dibakar Banerjee. Banerjee was accused of sexual misconduct in 2011 by actress Payal Rohatgi. Rohatgi had alleged that he had asked her to lift her shirt and show him her stomach.

“Yash Raj Films prides itself on the clean reputation that it has built over the years. That is why it is terminating the services of Ashish Patil. Next in line is Dibakar. YRF is currently contemplating how to let go off Dibakar without jeopardising the chances of the film, which is not fully complete. They don’t want the lead pair answering uncomfortable questions during the promotions of Sandeep and Pinky Faraar,” a source said.

Meanwhile, Dibakar has decided to lie low hoping the rising tide will subside soon.
