Begusarai (Bihar): A man who had turned a sadhu 25 years back returned to his home in a village in Begusarai district, only to disappear again after duping his wife of Rs 5 lakh.
Ramsheesh had left his home in 1993, when his wife was just 15 and they had a month-old baby. Ostensibly, he had decided to become a sadhu. After waiting for his return for five years, his wife Shyampari Devi presumed that he was no more and started leading the life of a widow.
On September 7, Ramasheesh suddenly reached his home. He was dressed as a sadhu and was accompanied by a chela. Soon, the entire village was there. His wife recognised him and so did his friends and relatives. Ramasheesh told them that he had decided to lead family life again and would now live at his home with his wife.
But there was a rider. Ramasheesh said that before abandoning the life of a sadhu, he would have to perform a Bhandara (community feast) at Gorakhpur for which Rs 2.5 lakh would be needed. Within no time, the villagers collected the amount among themselves. Ramasheesh gave the money to his chela and asked him to leave for Gorakhpur.
The next morning, he asked his wife to accompany him to Gorakhpur, along with all her ornaments. An unsuspecting Shyampari did his bidding. On the way, Ramasheesh got down from the train along with the ornaments and vanished.
A crestfallen Shyampari returned to her village. She has now lodged a complaint with the SP of the district.
