Makers of ‘Kedarnath’ open up on love jihad controversy

Mumbai: Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan has invited another controversy. The film is said to be promoting love jihad and one of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) members has demanded a ban on the film soon after the teaser of the film was released few days ago.

Today, the makers of the film launched the trailer and during the launch, when they were quizzed about this controversy, co-producer Ronnie Screwvala says, “Till date nobody has approached us, our onus is to get the film censored. There is a single body which does this. We are all creative people and there is nothing like that in the film. In most of the cases all these controversies start before they see the film. I don’t know how after watching sixty seconds of teaser, somebody forms such opinion. We have not heard about it. Let the censor decide it and once the film is released, let the people watch it and then decide about it.”

The teaser and the trailer show that Sara who is a Hindu girl from Uttarakhand falls in love with a Muslim boy played by Sushant Singh Rajput, however, after her family objects to this, she is forced to marry another person.
