Maharashtra/Union Cabinet recommends President’s rule, Congress coordination committee meeting with Sharad Pawar at 5 pm

Mumbai: In the midst of confusion over the formation of government in Maharashtra, the Union Cabinet has recommended imposition of President’s rule in the state. Sources gave this information to the news agency.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has also sent a recommendation for President’s rule. Shiv Sena said that if the Governor takes such a step, we can go to the Supreme Court.

Thackeray holds talks withKapil Sibal and Ahmed Patel: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray held talks with Congress leaders Kapil Sibal and Ahmed Patel. It is being told that Sibal can plead in the Supreme Court on behalf of Shiv Sena. Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi has formed a coordination committee, which will meet with Sharad Pawar in Mumbai at 5 pm Tuesday.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari first invited the largest party BJP to form the government. However, the BJP did not express its desire to form a government. After this Shiv Sena was invited. But, Shiv Sena asked for 2 days’ time. The Raj Bhavan refused. After this, the third largest party NCP was asked by the Governor about the desire to form the government. NCP said that we have been assigned time till 8:30 pm on Tuesday night.

Now Congress is interested in forming a government: During two meetings on Monday, Sonia asked the Maharashtra MLAs for an opinion on forming the government and also discussed with the NCP. Sources say that now the interest of Congress is increasing to form government in Maharashtra.

Sonia assigns Venugopal, Kharge and Ahmed Patel to coordinate with NCP: In the Congress meeting held on Tuesday, there was a discussion about forming the government. After this, Sonia Gandhi has assigned KC Venugopal, Mallikarjun Kharge and Ahmed Patel to coordinate with NCP. Venugopal said that all of us are leaving for Mumbai to meet NCP President Sharad Pawar. The decision on government formation will be taken only after talks between Sonia and Pawar.

NCP leader Ajit Pawar said on Tuesday that we (NCP and Congress) have contested together, so we cannot take the decision to form the government alone.

26 Congress MLAs out of 44 in favour of supporting Shiv Sena: 26 out of 44 MLAs of Maharashtra Congress are in favor of supporting Shiv Sena. NCP-Shiv Sena and Congress governments were formed in the state. These 26 MLAs are Marathas. Besides most of the MLAs are not in favor of fresh elections.
