Madhya Pradesh/ Foot over bridge slab collapses at Bhopal railway station; 9 injured, 3 critical

Bhopal (Narendra Jijhotia): A portion of the foot over bridge (FOB) slab collapsed at the old railway station in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday. The station was crowded at the time of the incident.

Nine people were injured in the accident, of which 3 are in critical condition. 4 have been admitted to the Railways Hospital and 5 have been admitted to Hamidia Hospital.

Police and fire brigade personnel are engaged in relief work. Some of the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital.

According to sources, the accident occurred on the platform number 2-3. At that time Tirupati Nizamuddin Express was on the platform. A few stalls were also installed under the foot over bridge. After the accident, the railway administration closed the FOB for common passengers. The news will be updated as more details become available.
