Madhya Pradesh/ After swine flu, bird flu knock on Jabalpur’s door, 5 patients confirmed

  • Bird flu knocks on Jabalpur’s door, 5 patients are being treated in Jabalpur Medical Hospital
  • So far 14 patients have died of swine flu in the district, now bird flu has been reported

Jabalpur: After the swine flu in Jabalpur, now H3N2 i.e. bird flu has knocked the district’s door. Bird flu, or avian influenza, is a viral infection spread from bird to bird. It’s deadly to most birds. And it’s deadly to humans and other mammals that catch the virus from birds. 

Five patients of bird flu have been confirmed in the district. They are being treated at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital. Most of the people who get bird flu have had close contact with infected birds or with surfaces that have been contaminated by the birds’ saliva, mucous, or droppings. It is also possible to get it by breathing in droplets or dust that contain the virus.

14 deaths due to swine flu so far

Jabalpur has faced havoc of swine flu till now. More than 60 patients suspected swine flu patients in the district had tested positive for swine flu. While 14 deaths have been due to swine flu so far this year. Presently 7 swine flu positive patients are being treated at the Medical Hospital in Jabalpur.
