New Delhi: When Gold and Satyameva Jayate released on Independence Day, a massive box-office clash was expected, since both the films had good star cast with massive fan following.
But what seemed to be a good opening day for both the films faded soon after they holiday mood. On the opening day Gold earned Rs 25.25 crore, while Satyameva Jayate churned out Rs 20.52 crore.
Day 2 was not as charismatic as Day 1, as their box office income dropped. Gold earned Rs 8 crore and Satyameva Jayate Rs 7.92 crore.
But Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh pointed out that after the big holiday, Thursday was a regular working day due to which the films lost business.
Adding up the total earned in the first two days Gold is ahead of Satyameva Jataye by Rs 4.81 crore. If the latter picks up business in the coming weekend, it might come at par with Gold or even end up earning more.
The trade analyst further said in his tweet, that if the films manage to cement their status by recording solid numbers over the next few days, an impressive lifetime total will be on the cards.
