The militant attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama has left the nation devastated and a massive anger has erupted across the country. The martyred jawans leave behind small children and inconsolable families. Out of 40 jawans, who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation, 12 belonged to UP, 5 to Rajasthan and 4 to Punjab. Two jawans each belonged to Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and W Bengal. One jawan each hailed from states of MP, Jharkhand, Himachal, J&K, Kerala, Karnataka and Assam.

Bhagirathi Singh, constable, Jaitpur, Dholpur, Rajasthan. Was married four years back. Has a four-year-old son and one-and-half year old daughter.
Jeetram Gurjar, constable, village Sundaravali, Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Was married four years back. Has two children.
Rohitash Lamba, constable, Govindpura, Shahpura, Rajasthan. Was married a year back. Has two-month-old daughter.
Narayan Lal Gurjar, head constable, village Binol, Rajsamand, Rajasthan. Has two children. Wife says will send children to Army.
Hemraj Meena, constable, village Vinod Kalan, Kota, Rajasthan. 43-year-old Meena has two sons and two daughters.
Maninder Singh Atri, constable, Gurdaspur, Punjab. Maninder is fourth among three sisters and two brothers. Joined CRPF one-and-half year back.
Kulvinder Singh, constable, village Rauli, Anandpur Sahib, Punjab. Kulvinder was recently engaged. His father is a driver.
Jaimal Singh, constable, Koitsekhan town, Moga, Punjab. Jaimal was driving the bus when it was blown up by militants.
Sukhjinder Singh, constable, Gandiwind, Tarn Taran, Punjab. He leaves behind his wife and seven-month-old son.
Ashwini Kumar, constable, Kudawal, Jabalpur, MP. Had joined 35th Battalion only four years back.
Tilak Raj, constable, Dheda village, Kangra, Himachal. A son was born to him only 15 days back. He has also a 2-year-old son.
Ratan Kumar Thakur, constable, village Ratanpur, Bhagalpur, Bihar. Ratan’s wife is about to deliver a child. So she has not been informed about the incident.
Sanjay Sinha, head constable, village Rargarh, Patna, Bihar. Sanjay was about to visit his village shortly in connection with his daughter’s wedding.
Vijay Soren, head constable, village Farsama, district Gumla, Jharkhand. Soren was eldest among four siblings. His wife is also a constable.
Nitin Shivaji, constable, village Chorpangra, Buldhana, Maharashtra. Nitin attained martyrdom in the terror attack in Pulwama.
Sanjay Rajput, head constable, village Lakhani Plot, Buldhana, Maharashtra. Had joined CRPF four years back. Leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
Awdhesh Kumar, head constable, village Bahadurpur, district Chandauli, UP. Has a two-year-old son. Mother is suffering from cancer.
Pankaj Tripathi, constable, village Belhaya, Maharajganj, UP. Was married six years back, has a four-year-old son.
Amit Kumar, constable, village Raipadh, Shamli, UP. Had joined CRPF two year back. Was youngest among six siblings.
Ram Vakeel, head constable, village Vinayakpur, Mainpuri, UP. While leaving for duty had told his wife that he would return early to build home for the family. He has three small children.
Mahesh Kumar, constable, village Purwa, Prayagraj, UP. Has two children aged 5 and 6.
Pradip Kumar, constable, village Banat, Shamli, UP. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Ramesh Yadav, constable, village Tofapur, Varanasi, UP. Has one-and-half-year old son. Had promised sister that he would come on Holi.
Kaushal Rawat, constable, village Kehrai, Agra, UP. Had gone to Kashmir only four days back. Has a four-year-old son.
Pradip Singh, constable, village Ajan, Kannauj, UP. Pradip has a son and a daughter. Elder brother is with ITBP.
Shyam Babu, constable, village Raigavan, Kanpur Dehat, UP. Had joined CRPF in 2007. Has a four-year-old son and five-month-old daughter.
Ajit Azad, constable, village Lok Nagar, Unnao, UP. Mother Rajwati, wife and daughters were inconsolable after they learnt that he had attained martyrdom.
Virendra Singh, constable, village Mohammad Pur Bhuria, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. Was youngest among four siblings. Has a four-year-old daughter and two-and-half year-old son.
Mohan Lal, ASI, village Bankot, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Family of 55-year-old Mohan Lal lives in Dehradun.
Bablu Santhra, head constable, Howrah, W Bengal. He is survived by mother, wife and four-year-old daughter.
Manoj Behra, constable, village Ratanpur, Cuttack, Odisha. Was the only son of the family. Has a year-old son.
Prasanna K Sahu, head constable, Jagatsingh Pur, Odisha. He was associated with 42nd Battalion. Father head constable Kashinath had passed away in 2013.
Nasir Ahmad, head constable, Dodasanbala, Rajouri, J&K. Ahmad’s village is plunged in mourning after the incident.
Vasant Kumar, constable, Wayanad, Kerala. He has a son and a daughter.
Subramanyam, constable, village Sablaperi, Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. Had re-joined duty only five days back after celebrating Pongal. Had got married only two year back.
Shivchandran C, constable, village Kargudi, Ariyalpur, Tamil Nadu. He is survived by his wife and two-year-old son. Wife Gandhimathi is about to become mother of their second child.
