[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter two people, including police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, were killed in Bulandshahr violence provoked by allegations of cow slaughter on Monday, a fresh video of the violence has gone viral on social media.
The video shows the sequence of events that led to the local resident Sumit and inspector Subodh Kumar being shot. Singh is seen lying unconscious in a filed. Sumit and Singh were the two people killed in the violence on Monday in Mahaw village of the district. The mob left more than five policemen wounded, burned down a police station and set several vehicles on fire.
The attackers are also heard shouting and heading towards the inspector after Sumit was shot. They are heard shouting “chheen lo bandook iski (snatch his gun)” and then the inspector is seen lying on the ground.
A cellphone video shows Inspector Singh’s limp body in his car, its windscreen shattered and doors open. As gunshots ring out, a mob runs around, shouting “goli maro” (shoot him). A post-mortem report has confirmed that Singh died of bullet injuries below his left eyebrow. The mob also took away his service gun and mobile phone.
As the mobile video emerged, the police admitted that Inspector Singh may have died of gunshot wounds. They had first claimed that he died of a head injury after being hit with a stone.
The fresh video on Wednesday showed Kumar along with other attackers who were pelting stones. The video shows Kumar walking in the front of an unruly mob, which was shouting and hurling abuses at police personnel. After a while, he is seen with a bullet wound on his chest and two to three people taking him away from the spot.
The authenticity of these videos, which have been widely shared, is yet to be ascertained, but the Special Investigation Team (SIT) will include all such footage in its probe in the entire incident, said a senior police officer privy to the investigation.
