Social worker Sunitha Krishnan will be the guest for Karmaveer, a special episode of ‘KBC 11’ this week. The promo of this episode has come to the fore, in which Sunitha is seen narrating the incident to Big B.
She told that when she was just 15 years old, 8 people raped her. Amitabh was shocked to hear this. Significantly, Sunita is the chief officer and co-founder of the NGO Prajjawala. This NGO works for the rescue and rehabilitation of women-girls trafficked.
17 murderous assaults: In the promo of ‘KBC’, Sunitha said that due to her work, she has been attacked 17 times so far. However, she is not afraid to die. She says, “As long as I am alive, I will commit my life to other girls who are in brothels suffering like this.”
Freed more than 22 thousand women: In the promo, Big B said about Sunitha, “Sunitha has saved more than 22 thousand women and girls from sexual trafficking. We salute you brave Karmaveer Sunita Krishnanji.”
Fond of social service since childhood: Born in Bangalore, Sunita is fond of social service since childhood. When she was 8 years old, she started teaching children with mental disabilities to dance. At the age of 12, she used to run school in slums for underprivileged children.
Raped by 8 at age 15: At the age of 15, she was raped by 8 people when she was running a new literacy campaign for the Dalit community. They did not like the interference of a woman in their male-dominated society.
Was brutally assaulted: Sunitha was also beaten badly. Due to this one of her ears was also partially damaged and she hears less. However, Sunitha did not give up and continued her social work. In 2016, she has been awarded the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest honour.
