SOTY2 doing well despite bad reviews

Tiger Shroff starrer Student of the Year 2 has earned Rs 38.83 crore after three days. SOTY 2 is a sequel to the 2012 Karan Johar directorial Student of the Year which launched the careers of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.

A trade analyst said on condition of anonymity: “Most of the top Bollywood actors and actresses are keen to work with Karan Johar. Surprisingly Karan Johar produces a film that has nothing to do with reality. His last solo hit film was Badrinath ki Dulhania. But after the two flops of Kalank and SOTY2 questions will be raised over his production house.”

The trailer of the film was out a while ago and it had all the elements of a perfect college drama. Right from the craziness, competition, bromance, adventures and, of course, the signature Karan Johar love triangle, the trailer looked promising.
