Karan Johar seems to have convinced Akshay to not delay the release of ‘Kesari’

Mumbai: Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar have collaborated for film Kesari, which is based on the Battle of Saragarhi. The actor has finished shooting for the film and Karan had announced that the film will release around Holi festival next year (March 21). However, Akshay was keen to release it around Independence Day as that date has always worked in favour of his films. But it seems Karan has managed to convince Akshay not to push ahead its release date.

“Akshay was in favour of shifting his film’s release date because of box office records of his previous film which have released on Independence Day. This film too has patriotic flavour and he had an opinion that it will work if the film releases around August 15 next year. But Karan has his another film Brahmastra releasing on same day and thinks that it is not wise to shift release date of this film as it has already managed to create a lot of buzz and the date is ideal for the flavour of the film. So there were speculations that the makers might re-think about changing release dates of both the films. But with the latest poster release of Kesari it seems Karan has managed to convince Akshay to stick to his original release date,” said a source.

Kesari which also stars Parineeti Chopra and was to be produced by Salman Khan along with Karan and Akshay but the actor backed out of the film when he realised that Ajay Devgn too is making a film on the same subject. Brahmastra, on the other hand is directed by Ayan Mukerji and features Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy.
